About Houston Modern Homes
Houston Modern Homes is a real estate website that focuses on mid-century modern and contemporary homes for sale in the Houston real estate market. Architecture and design is a passion of ours, so we created Houston Modern Homes to make it the marketplace for both sellers and buyers of modern and contemporary homes in the Houston area.
If you use the big real estate search engine sites such as Realtor.com, Zillow or Trulia, they don’t allow you to search by architectural style. Anyone who’s interested in a specific style of architecture would have to click through hundreds of listings to try to find a home with ‘modern’ qualities.
You can search the Houston Association of Realtors site (HAR.com) for architectural styles. And if you filter your search for contemporary/modern, you’ll get some of those, but you’ll still click through a lot of traditional styles. The reality is that most Realtors aren’t focused on significant architectural styles. They just want to sell homes of any kind. And there’s only a small percentage of modern and contemporary homes ever built in Houston.
Although there is a market and demand for modern and contemporary homes, and both significance and value in their style, that market hasn’t received the kind of specialized service that it deserves. That’s why we created Houston Modern Homes – to provide a closer link between buyers and sellers of modern and contemporary homes, and in the process, promote their significance and value, and play a part in preserving great home designs in Houston.
Our mission is simple: to serve sellers by promoting the value and significance of their architectural properties to as broad an audience as possible, and to assist buyers by connecting them with homes that meet their standards for design, aesthetics and lifestyle.
In addition to featuring our own listings, Houston Modern Homes provides a valuable service of identifying and selecting other modern and contemporary listings in the greater Houston area. We have identified specific areas and neighborhoods where these homes are present, and noted their addresses. We still must comb through hundreds of listings each week just to find a few modern homes for sale.
In that regard, we do our best to locate listings in all price ranges, recognizing that the condition of the property and some architectural features may be compromised. Of primary importance is that the structure of the house has an open quality with a substantial indoor/outdoor connection. So if the ‘bones’ of the house are modern in nature, the listing would generally quality for placement on our site.
